Linguistic Stays – Lessons and Leisure

Linguistic Stays – Lessons and Leisure

Warm and caring host families

Host families are selected, visited and vetted by a member of the staff, who is available at all times throughout each course. We request that the host families follow strict rules so that the students can have the best experience possible.
They will offer the student a warm welcome after a smooth journey. Participants will be reassured and ready to get used to the new lifestyle. Unless you request otherwise, there will be only one student of the same mother tongue in the family, allowing them to practise their English at all times. Host Families provide packed lunches and share breakfast, dinner and evenings with the students while our team organizes a daily bus route with a private coach for the students to get to school in the mornings and back home after the activities or lessons.

Residential Stays

You can choose from 3 kinds of residential accommodation : sea front, town or country side accommodation.*
Sea front accommodations, located on the sea front 5 minutes from the school and main train station, are equipped with 4 to 6 en-suite bedded rooms (single or twin room for leaders), refectory and shared common rooms.
In the town and country side accommodations, (10-15 mn by bus or coach from the school) students have twin 3 or 4 bedded rooms (single or twin room for leaders), shared bathroom, refectory, common and leisure rooms and a private garden.

Quality Language Teaching

Our English teachers, aware of the students’ strengths and weaknesses in English, will help consolidate their knowledge of the language by focusing on communication skills. The lessons are dynamic, lively and studentcentered.
Our students are always active, whether they are conducting surveys, creating questionnaires, performing plays or doing project work.
The teaching staffs, led by our Director of Studies work as a team to make sure all our students receive a wellbalanced course and are able to progress in English. Our syllabus is derived from the Common European Framework (CEFR), and includes topics of interest for teenagers and children.
At the beginning of the stay, students are given a test, the results of which are studied by our Director of Studies to make precise level groups. During the stay, students are always active, whether they are conducting surveys, creating questionnaires, perfoming plays or doing project works.
At the end of the stay, the students are given a course report detailing their achievements during their stay and describing any areas for improvement. Our aim is to encourage and motivate students to continue their English studies after they leave CGC.
